HOMES FOR HOMES

Tackling homelessness one title at a time

In the fight to end homelessness, we need all hands on deck. Working with scaling social enterprise, Homes for Homes, our task was to prepare educational materials that would capture the attention and enlist the support of conveyancers and property law professionals across Western Australia.

Homes for Homes represents a bold and enterprising idea. Established by Australia’s largest and most successful social enterprise, The Big Issue, the initiative asks homeowners to promise 0.1% of the sale price of their home to fund much-needed social and affordable housing developments, then pass this promise on to any future owners.

We worked with Homes for Homes to develop compelling and clearly articulated content, then designed a suite of educational materials for presentation at the Australian Institute of Conveyancers WA Division (AICWA) 2021 Conference. Deliverables included a settlement guide with step-by-step advice for supporting Homes for Homes when processing a property sale. We also developed a facilitator presentation and accompanying learner quiz, as well as some instructional “train the trainer” materials to close the educational loop.
Working with a discreet, established brand, we dialled up the advocacy with some eye-catching and activating hero copy, and a sparse, easy-to-follow layout. Communicating with this expert cohort would rely on highly technical information, so we knew that plain-speaking but precise content would achieve cut-through.

By delivering easy-to-understand instructions alongside impactful visual elements, we helped to demystify a potentially complex process, advocating for the safe passage of Homes for Homes caveats on participating property titles. Demonstrating past successes was key to telling this good news story – how funded projects have already delivered lifechanging results.
