Tackling youth homelessness

Ladder Support Services is an independent not-for-profit organisation established to help young people break the cycle of homelessness. We worked together to co-design a series of wall murals to inspire and welcome young people within their Collingwood housing and support complex.

Ladder Support Services work together with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, providing accommodation and support building the life skills necessary to break the cycle of poverty and hopelessness.

Design Democracy created environmental graphics throughout Ladder housing and support services in Collingwood to capture imagination and positively influence the way young people think.

Inspirational messaging and bright illustrations were co-designed with young people living at Ladder, focusing on their strengths and what they can achieve.

The graphic environments are friendly and welcoming, helping young people move away from the cycle of disadvantage experienced in their lives.
